Brew HaHa!
What could be better than a fall beer festival? Comedy AND an indoor beer festival! We put on this fun event that brought professional stand-up comedians and over 20 craft breweries to one location. We even opened up the mic for would-be comedians during an open-mic session. Best of all a portion of the proceeds benefit local charities such as humane societies.
Hill City Jam
New Country Music. In the Hill City. The Hill City Jam! New Country 107.9 YYD brings you an evening of great country music in the beautiful outdoors. This annual event brings national and regional artists to Lynchburg for an outdoor musical concert unlike any other. The Jam is open to all ages and includes a children’s area, vendors, craft and domestic beverages, and food trucks. Admission proceeds benefit local charities. Last year’s event raised over $6,000 for a local volunteer fire department.
First Fridays
New Country 107.9 YYD is a supporting sponsor of First Fridays – a live music event in downtown Roanoke. It runs from May through September – the first and third Friday. Live music presented on street stage from 5pm to 9pm. Admission is $5.00 with money going to charitable groups. Attendance is between 1,000 to 3,000. The station is also on location providing publicity and contesting at each event. WYYD provided over $5,000 of air-time to promote events.
Cheers To The Weekend
New Country 107.9 YYD is a supporting sponsor of Cheers To The Weekend – a live music event in downtown Lynchburg that is held every Friday from the end of June through mid August. Walk To End Alzheimer’s
New Country 107.9 YYD is a supporting sponsor of the Walk to End Alzheimer’s. This walk is held by the Alzheimer’s Association in cities and towns all across America. The very spirited and driven members of the greater Roanoke and Lynchburg community are no exception. WYYD provided over $5,000 of air-time to promote the walk. Program Director Scott Stevens was the emcee and co-host at the kickoff event before the walk.
Veteran’s Day Parade
In spite of Lynchburg, Virginia’s heavy military heritage, it had not hosted a Veteran’s Day parade in more than 80 years. This ended with an amazing parade through Lynchburg’s premiere college Liberty University on Veteran’s Day 2017. WYYD provided over $5,000 of air-time to promote the planning of, and attendance for the parade. Program Director Scott Stevens was the emcee and co-host at the main judging area of the event.
Exchange Club of Lynchburg’s Annual All-Day Pancake Breakfast
A tradition in Lynchburg, the Exchange Club hosts an all-day pancake breakfast fundraiser. WYYD provided over $2,000 in free advertising to promote the event. Program Director Scott Stevens volunteered to be a “celebrity chef” during the event flipping pancakes and serving customers. Money raised from the event was given to over 10 charitable organizations in the Lynchburg area and provided scholarships to area students attending college.
